Local businesses will have a chance to develop an online presence with the help of Google and Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Stockton, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Stockton Arena.

McNerney and representatives from Google are providing a free seminar to Stockton-area businesses to give them the tools and knowledge to create their own websites and stay connected with consumers. Small business owners will attend workshops and receive one-on-one assistance from Google experts.

The event, called California Get Your Businesses Online, is a statewide program hoping to connect the 49 percent of small businesses in California without an online presence to the Internet.
