Google Play Music Available for iPad

Google Play Music has been optimized for the iPad. The iTunes rival was already available for the iPhone but is can now be downloaded to Apple slates too. It features Google’s now-commonplace Material Design as well as new fixes for faster, more reliable streaming.

The app allows users to listen to music stored onto their devices as well as up to 20,000 of their own songs uploaded to the cloud. Users won’t be able to use Google’s All Access service through the mobile app though; they will need to access it through an Android device or a browser. They will still be able to stream any song from their library and create bespoke radio stations based on their tastes. The download is available for free from iTunes.

Apple is said to be readying a new Beats-branded streaming platform. The tech giant recently recruited exiting BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe to work on what was thought to be iTunes Radio but could be the new streaming service. The New Zealand-born, London-based DJ and producer will leave the BBC and relocate to the US in March to work for Apple. It’s thought that he has been headhunted due to his music curation skills.
