Google Play Music Increases Allowance to 50,000 Songs

Users of Google Play Music can now store 50,000 songs on their servers, an increase of 30,000 tracks. Those who wish to gain access to Google’s library of 30 million songs for streaming simply need to subscribe to the service, although the storage facility is free.

Google product manager Andrew Stromme said: “We are expanding the music storage limit on Google Play. Now you can store 50,000 songs for free and stream or download them to your phone, tablet, computer or Chromecast. You can stream or download music to your Android, iPhone or iPad for easy offline listening. And best of all, when you upgrade to a new computer or phone, your music comes along too.”

Full subscribers can take an early look at Google’s new YouTube Music Key service, which is due to be launched soon. Users wishing to take advantage of their extra storage now simply need to log in to Play Music with their Google account.

YouTube MusicKey is Google’s latest push into the monthly subscription music market. An ad-supported free version of the service is also due to be launched. The service will give users access to official music videos as well as audio tracks. Apple are said to be refreshing their iTunes Radio service.
