Google Rolling Out Pit Stop Feature for Maps App on iOS

You might have moments when you’re traveling to a particular destination, with the help of turn-by-turn directions from Google Maps, only to realize that you need to take a quick detour. Such unexpected diversions can soon inconvenience you less thanks to a ‘pit shop’ feature in Google Maps for iOS.

This feature is rolling out to the iOS app from today, having been added to the Android version in October. It enables you to search for pit stops such as gas stations, restaurants and grocery stores, see how much time time each stop would likely add to your trip, and then add stops to your journey plan – all without ever leaving navigation mode, as would have previously been necessary.

The Google Maps app is free to download from the iOS App Store for both iPhone and iPad.
