Feb. 14–Last Thursday, the Milledgeville Police Department’s detective’s bureau received information from a vehicle theft victim, leading to two arrests.
According to the report, the victim accessed the GPS on the stolen Apple MacBook through his cell phone. Authorities tracked the signal to the alleged culprits.
Tyree Cortez Paschal, 20, has been charged with four counts of entering auto and criminal damage to property. His girlfriend, Brianna Ray, was charged with criminal damage to property.
Det. Anthony Henderson of MPD went directly to the location of the last GPS transmission, where he found a black male throwing something into a trash can.
The suspect fled on foot into the wooded area near the 600 block of South Jefferson Street immediately after Henderson identified himself as a police officer. Henderson, along with several MPD units, Georgia College Public Safety and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, converged on the location.
While attempting to locate the suspect, the stolen MacBook’s GPS signal was moving in a nearby residence. The residence was secured pending location of the homeowner.
Henderson identified the Paschal and Ray as the residents.
Ray eventually answered the door, immediately identifying Paschal as her boyfriend.
Upon first entry into the residence, the stolen computer was not located. After returning, officers found the MacBook broken into several pieces inside a washing machine. Through further investigation, it was determined the MacBook was destroyed by Ray, according to police.
“We feel that Paschal and associates are responsible for the several crimes on the south side of town. It is sad that it’s not safe to leave your vehicle parked without becoming a victim of a crime,” Maj. Reggie Hill of MPD said. “This investigation is not over. We remain dedicated to holding these criminals accountable for their actions.”
Anyone with any additional information, those who may have seen the suspects or have had electronic items taken from a is asked to call MPD at (478) 414-4079.
