GymKit for Apple Watch has launched

GymKit allows users to cooperate and sync their workout data between their Apple Watch and the fitness equipment that they use.

The first gym to feature compatible fitness equipment is up and running in Australia and all users need to do is tap their watch onto a treadmill (for example) using NFC and data will be shared back and forth automatically. Your watch will then send data directly to the treadmill and the treadmill will send calories burned back to the watch, as it will be aware of your exact weight.  Other information such as speed and incline of the treadmill is sent to the Apple Watch and workouts will automatically pause and resume if the treadmill is stopped.

At the end of your workout, your watch will save all of the relevant data to the local database and the gym equipment will be wiped of any personal data.

The manufacturer TechnoGym is creating compatible fitness equipment including treadmills, steppers, bikes and elliptical machines but as of now GymKit is only available in Australia with the company expanding it throughout the country before it launches to other gyms around the world.
