Kensington Palace has confirmed that Prince Harry will partner with Oprah Winfrey on a new documentary series focusing on mental health.

The pair will work together as partners, co-creators and executive producers on the show, which will launch on the Apple TV+ streaming platform in 2020.

According to a press release, published on The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new Instagram account, the show has been in development for a number of months, with both parties “looking forward to sharing such an important project on this global platform.”

The new multi-part series will feature “honest conversation about the challenges each of us faces,” sharing stories from Oprah, Harry, famous faces and everyday folk as they open up about their struggles with mental health.

The series is expected to feature both mental illness and mental wellness, offering insight and guidance to those looking to improve their mindset and live healthier, happier lives.

The Duke of Sussex has a long history of mental health advocacy and has spoken openly a number of times about his personal experiences. He has spent years working with communities in the United Kingdom and further afield, offering support and starting real, meaningful conversations about wellness to build a more positive society.

Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William, collaborated with Lady Gaga on a mental health campaign in 2017, and it’s likely that he will feature in the documentary series, being an advocate of mental health support and a founding member of the #oktosay and Heads Together campaigns.

Speaking of the new documentary commission, HRH Prince Harry said: “I truly believe that good mental health – mental fitness – is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities, and a purpose-driven self.

“It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times.

“Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive – sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better.

“I am incredibly proud to be working alongside Oprah on this vital series.”

Earlier in the year, Oprah Winfrey joined Apple with stars such as Jennifer Aniston and Steven Spielberg for the launch of Apple TV+, sharing news of their upcoming shows.

It’s expected that Oprah will work on many new features and series for the Cupertino firm, though little was revealed during her keynote debut at Apple’s March Event.
