A new minute-long scene from the remake of Stephen King’s IT was released at the MTV Awards on Sunday and it’s even more terrifying than the trailer that we’d already seen.
Bill Skarsgård plays the iconic clown, Pennywise, who will return to our screens on 8 September after almost 30 years after the TV mini series that was released in 1990. The film also stars a host of child actors who make up the ‘Losers Club’ including Finn Wolfhard, known for his role in Netflix’s Stranger Things that hit the heights of popularity last year.
The film is directed by Andrés Muschietti and updates the original mini series although both versions are based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel of the same name. Set in a small New England town, it follows the story of a group of children who are terrorized by an eponymous being who exploits their individual fears and phobias to disguise itself and hunt its prey. The story is split over two time periods, first following the group in their youth and then reuniting them as adults as they face ‘It’ once more.
In the new clip, Pennywise is seen with his trademark red balloons but takes on a dramatically different look to the version played by Tim Curry back in 1990. This is the first view we’ve had of the evil clown’s face in daylight and the clip builds on last month’s trailer which opened with the iconic scene of Georgie sailing a paper boat in the rain. As his boat disappears, ‘It’ is seen hiding in the dark.
Don’t turn off the lights during this brand new clip from IT Movie exclusively from the #MTVAwards, airing right now!
