Apple has announced new plans for its upcoming virtual Worldwide Developers Conference.
The company will kick off the first-ever virtual event on June 22 with a Special Event Keynote, where attendees will be able to find out more about the upcoming versions of iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, macOS, watchOS, and more, and perhaps get a sneak peek of new products like a rumored iMac redesign, a new HomePod mini device, and the long-awaited AirTags.
Apple could also use the Special Event to show off its AirPods Studio, which are over-ear headphones with Apple branding, designed to compete with the likes of Bose and Sony.
Following the main event, Apple will host a series of online workshops for developers around the world, including a Platforms State of the Union at 2 pm on June 22, where engineering leaders will “dive deeper into the latest advances across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS,” followed by more than 100 exclusive developer sessions spread across 3 days.
Every day, Apple will upload new videos and sessions to its Apple Developer app and the Apple Developer website. In total, more than 100 technical and design-focused sessions have been recorded, and new Apple Developer Forums will help answer questions and engage with technical discussions and debates following the main keynote announcements.
Apple will also host one-on-one developer appointments, where engineers will offer technical guidance and details on implementing new features to their apps. Developer Labs are open to everyone on the Apple Developer Program, but only on a first-come-first-serve basis.
