Here’s what the redesigned AirPods 3 will look like

Insiders have reportedly unveiled the first images of AirPods 3.

The third-generation of Apple’s flagship earphones will feature a redesign, inspired by the shape of the AirPods Pro. Chinese website 52Audio has shared the first images of the new AirPods 3 and part of their charging case, ahead of the release of the new product in 2021.

According to the report, the new AirPods 3 and case are similar to the new AirPods Pro, but have a slightly different design to account for the price difference between the two.

For example, the earbud on the AirPods 3 features a conical shape like the AirPods 3, with windows in the housing to accommodate microphones, IR sensors and pressure exhausts.

The new driver output hole is circular, which is different from the AirPod’s current design. The AirPods Pro already features a similar circular design which allows users to add their own silicone ear tips, making it easier for them to customize their fit on their earphones.

We don’t know for certain when the new AirPods 3 will arrive, but it’s likely that they’ll ship at some point in 2021, perhaps in the first or second quarter. A second-generation AirPods Pro are expected to follow later in the year, just in time for the holiday season in Fall 2021.
