How Apple Devices Can Help You With Summer Swimming

Summer is very much here now – and, unsurprisingly, there’s plenty of lovely warm places to enjoy around the country. So much so that you could fancy a good swim, especially in the sea or an outdoor pool. Swimming has both fitness and therapeutic benefits, but you might not realize how much mobile Apple devices, like the iPhone and iPad, could help you to make even more of these benefits.

We should warn you here that, though Apple has certainly made water-resistant mobile devices, it has not – yet, at least – made any such devices that claim to be waterproof. For this reason, we would not recommend that you actually take one of these devices into the water with you, though keeping them in your beach bag or locker is unlikely to pose any big issues. There are cases for these devices that are supposedly waterproof, but we have not personally tested them to be able to report on their effectiveness.

Now that we have made that clear, what useful apps could you download in preparation for taking a dip? We would first recommend Swim Radar, which can show you locations of nearby suitable swimming spots, including both pools and popular places for outdoor swimming. Then, you could download the GoSwim Lite app, which you can use to help improve your swimming technique and interact with other swimmers.
