Last week, we learned what functions Microsoft Office apps will put on the new MacBook Pro’s Touch Bar – but what approaches are being taken with Apple’s own iWork productivity software?
Thankfully, we now have a good idea. Looking deep into the code of macOS Sierra 10.12.1 and using Xcode developer tools, 9to5Mac has gathered screenshots from those iWork apps – Pages, Numbers and Keynote – already updated with support for the Touch Bar. So, what did the news site discover?
Well, Pages will let users alter the alignment of paragraph text, start a bulleted list, change text color and more with the Touch Bar. Meanwhile, Numbers will use the bar to display formula, autofill, text formatting and cell merging options, and Keynote will show mini thumbnails of earlier and later slides during a presentation. Tapping one of those thumbnails will bring that slide up on the main screen.
In an in-depth article, 9to5Mac goes into more detail about what other Touch Bar features we can expect from not only these apps, but also other Apple software.
The new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar should start reaching the hands of customers in a week or two; if you’re among those waiting, you can read more about the original announcement of the machine by reading the latest AppleMagazine issue.
