Twitter Blue has officially launched, and with it, the ability to get a verified tag!
If you’ve been trying to get verified on Twitter for a long time but have so far failed to do so, then you’re in luck: thanks to Twitter Blue’s new update, you can pay $7.99 for access to a tag almost immediately.
To take advantage, you’ll need an iPhone. Head to the Twitter app and visit the sidebar, and then click on the Twitter Blue logo. You’ll be directed to subscribe via Apple Pay, and you’ll then be verified on the platform.
It’s important to note that Twitter, under new CEO Elon Musk, is making changes to the Verification program almost every day. Right now, anyone can receive the verification tag, and they don’t need to be a notable person. That’s why Twitter is introducing a new ‘Official’ tag underneath to determine whether an account is genuine.
It, technically, defeats the object of a verification badge entirely, but this long-awaited feature is finally here.
A lot of folks have asked about how you'll be able to distinguish between @TwitterBlue subscribers with blue checkmarks and accounts that are verified as official, which is why we’re introducing the “Official" label to select accounts when we launch. pic.twitter.com/0p2Ae5nWpO
