IBM Unveils Opening of New Cloud Data Center in South Korea

IBM has expanded its global network of Cloud Data Centers with the opening of a new facility in Pangyo, just outside South Korea’s capital, Seoul. The US tech giant has collaborated with SK Holdings C&C to support the East Asian country’s public cloud services market, which looks set for significant growth…

The IT research firm IDC says that this market is expected to grow in value to about $1 billion in 2019; this compares to $445 million in 2015. IBM’s new Cloud Data Center, the company’s 47th overall, will be able to assist Korean businesses in accelerating their digital transformation and global growth.

The new facility will also enable these companies to keep data in the country where their clients are based, make use of industrial-strength public and hybrid cloud, and draw upon IBM’s international network of 47 Cloud Data Centers to more securely and efficiently manage their data across global markets.
