How to improve the battery life on your Galaxy S8

As smartphones get larger and demands for software increase, users are finding it more and more difficult to stretch their phones battery life to one full day. This is a struggle for manufacturers too, who are tending to focus more on thinner designs and improved efficiency rather than making devices larger to increase their battery life.

However, this does leave a great spot in the market for third-party manufacturers to offer cases that not only protect but include hidden batteries that recharge your phone too. The latest on the market is a pairing between Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus with Mophie whose Juice Pack cases have been around since 2007. The Juice Pack for the S8+ offers an additional 3300mAh on top of the S8+’s own 3500 mAh battery.

Part of Samsung’s solution to the question of battery life was to introduce wireless charging into their flagship handsets. Users need only to place their phone onto a wireless charging pad and let the wire coils pass a current between them but the bulk of any other case often means that these receiver coils are too far away from your handset. Luckily, Mophie has solved this problem with it’s “Charge Force” wireless power system that uses magnets to help guide your case to the right direction on their charging accessories. This makes it a great choice for users who want to retain compatibility.

Of course, the S8 and S8 Plus saw the introduction of a larger curved screen design and the case reflects this too. A low profile for the long edges mean that the curved screen and the Edge interface are still accessible and the Juice Pack offers a tiny bezel area to avoid false key presses on the edge of the screen. For the back of the phone, Mophie has created a large cutout which gives access to the fingerprint sensor, the camera and the flash and the sloped sides help to guide your finger in the right direction to unlock the phone.

While it does add a little more weight to the phone, the Mophie case is comfortable to hold and provides an impressive two days of power making it an ideal companion while out travelling.
