One of Apple Maps’ most exciting features in recent years was announced with this year’s iOS 11 operating system, and that was the ability to view indoor maps from malls, airports and other public buildings across the United States and around the world.
Today, Apple began listing indoor maps, giving is a clearer picture of where indoor mapping is available.
Apple now offers indoor maps at 34 airports around the world, with airports in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany and the Netherlands covered.
The new indoor mapping feature shows layouts for each airport, including icons for bathrooms, shops, landmarks, restaurants, elevators and airport amenities such as baggage claim, immigration, and security checkpoints, making navigating huge airports simpler.
Some malls are also covered as part of the new indoor mapping update, with malls in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Jose, and Washington, DC making the initial list from Apple.
More are expected to be added over the coming months and years as Apple and mall proprietors work together to create maps.
A full list of the airports and malls currently covered is available to view on Apple’s website.
