Instagram Enables Live Tile for Windows 10 Desktop App

Instagram has updated its desktop Windows 10 app – and the main improvement is the enabling of the app’s Live Tile, which allows you to keep an eye on what’s going on from your device’s Start menu.

In the Windows Store, the desktop app – that’s the app for the version of Windows 10 that comes on not only desktop computers, but also laptop computers and large tablets – has been bumped up to version 9.673.33414.0. The release notes mention that speed and stability has also been improved.

The new Live Tile support means that, when you attach the Instagram tile to the Start menu in Windows 10, you will see a dynamic tile rather than the static one that was previously available. Live Tiles is a feature that is unique to Windows, and is already supported by Instagram’s Windows 10 Mobile app.

That app, on the subject of which, has also received an update – to version 9.673.33496.0. However, this update is not accompanied by fresh release notes; this suggests that the software has been given only under-the-hood enhancements, rather than any new features. Both apps are free to download.
