Instagram has its very own Portrait Mode feature hidden from view

Rumors suggest Instagram has its very own version of the popular iPhone portrait mode hidden inside the app.

When portrait mode was introduced to the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and 7 Plus it became an instant hit. It is only available on these devices because it depends on the twin-lens camera that those devices have. This mode creates an artistic depth effect where the subject is in focus and the background is blurred.

Now Instagram, always eager to make their app better than Snapchat, are thought to have developed their own version of portrait more, as reported by TechCrunch. Instagram currently offer Boomerang and Superzoom, which Snapchat does not, and they are now looking to expand their camera options even further. Their portrait mode will let users access the bokeh effect-blurred background straight from the app.

Instagram has yet to comment on the new feature, but users are already starting to get exciting. It is unclear how far into development this feature is or if it will actually be released at all. However, this new feature could come sooner than we think, as when Instagram was asked about their Giphy GIF-sharing feature the rumored feature was released just one week later.

What do you think about Instagram launching their very own version of portrait mode?
