The critically acclaimed comedy drama While We’re Young is now available from iTunes, and it’s fair to say that the movie fascinates, with Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts playing a New York couple whose lives are revitalized after they befriend a much younger couple.
Once you have enjoyed this thoughtful treat from veteran indie filmmaker Noah Baumbach, come back and also enjoy these little nuggets of surprising trivia about the film.
The main cast was going to be very different. Early on, Cate Blanchett was to play the wife of Stiller’s documentarian character Josh, while James Franco and Greta Gerwig were to appear as the twentysomethings who inspire them to a more light-hearted attitude to life. However, all but Stiller dropped out, Franco and Gerwig known to have done so due to scheduling conflicts. Adam Driver and Amanda Seyfried took the roles of the younger couple.
It turns out that one of the characters lives somewhere very prestigious… As betrayed by the sight of a sign for the National Arts Club near the apartment of Josh’s father-in-law Leslie, this apartment is on Gramercy Park. This is one of Manhattan’s most expensive neighborhoods, and has been home to Hollywood legends including Gregory Peck and Julia Roberts.
