iOS 10 Bringing Tweaks to Music App, Lock Screen and More

The just-announced tenth major version of iOS will bring lots of improvements and additions to familiar apps and features, including Phone, Music, Messages, Maps, News and Siri.

The Music and News apps are both getting sweeping redesigns to make music consumption and news reading easier. Big and bold headlines decorate a uniformly white interface in the Music app, while News will be able to send breaking news notifications to the Lock screen.

The smart home framework HomeKit, meanwhile, is getting its own stock iOS app, Home. From here, all connected HomeKit accessories can be viewed and controlled with only taps. HomeKit will also be built into Control Center. The Home app will hit iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.

Siri is also set to become a lot smarter, as Apple is opening it up to developers with iOS 10. This means that users will soon be able to turn to Siri for using a range of third apps.

iOS 10 will launch as a beta for developers today before arriving as a free update for a range of iOS devices in the fall.
