iOS 14.5 to include new and redesigned emoji

Apple will introduce more than 200 new emoji as part of its iOS 14.5 release.

As first revealed by Emojipedia, more than 200 emoji have been added to the latest iOS 14.5 beta, suggesting that a release is imminent. It’s likely that Apple will drop the update to users in Marc, once developers have had a chance to ‘test-drive’ the new features and code.

One of the biggest changes coming to this release is the redesign of some existing emoji, including the Headphones emoji, which now represents AirPods Max.

The syringe emoji has also been updated, removing the blood, offering a more sympathetic reflection of a vaccine.

New emoji coming to the release include a face in the clouds, a heart on fire, and a face exhaling. What’s more, there’s a number of people with a bear, a face with spiralling eyes, and perhaps most notably, the majority of the new emoji are focused on expanding the ‘couple with heart’ emoji.

As part of the new release, you’ll find hundreds of variations to accommodate genders, hair colors, and skin colors, offering a more inclusive experience.
