iOS 8.4 to be Available from 8am Pacific Time on Tuesday

Apple has revealed that the long-anticipated iOS 8.4, including the much-hyped Apple Music, will become available for download from 8am Pacific Time this Tuesday. The Beats 1 radio station will commence streaming an hour later.

Apple usually makes new updates to the iOS operating system available from 10am, but it seems that it might have chosen a slightly earlier time for iOS 8.4 to give many iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users enough time to download the update and catch the launch of Beats 1.

That seems a wise move, as new iOS releases can take a long time for many people to download in the immediate aftermath of their launch, largely due to the significant load on Apple’s servers. Apple itself doesn’t tend to notify iOS users about such releases until demand has fallen.

The most recent beta version of iOS 8.4 became available to developers on June 9. Though the significantly revamped Music app was by far the most notable feature of this release, also included were a raft of bug fixes and stability enhancements.
