iPad Air Introduces Faster M2 Chip and Expands with a New 13-Inch Model Apple has unveiled a significant upgrade to the iPad Air, introducing a new larger size and enhancing performance with the latest processor.

Surrounding the main video are various timelines, thumbnails of other video clips, and editing tools—powered by the efficient M2 chip for seamless performance.

The iPad Air has received its latest transformation, marking the debut of its sixth generation roughly two years after the previous refresh.

This update extends beyond the typical specification enhancements, incorporating new size variations inspired by the iPad Pro series.

The familiar 10.9-inch display has now expanded to a full 11 inches, while a newly introduced 13-inch model provides a significantly larger workspace.

Despite these size increases, the iPad Air retains the existing Liquid Retina display technology, known for its vibrant LED backlighting.

In a nod to improved usability, the FaceTime camera and speakers have been oriented for landscape use, the latter boasting double the bass in the 13-inch model compared to its predecessor.

Under the hood, the 2024 iPad Air models have transitioned from the M1 to the M2 chip, enhancing the CPU performance by about 15% and GPU performance by 25%.

The Neural Engine also sees a notable speed improvement of 40%, pushing the boundaries of what the iPad Air can achieve in terms of processing power.

The design continues to echo the iPad Pro aesthetic, featuring flat edges and an industrial look that aligns with Apple’s modern design philosophy.

Starting at $599 for the 128GB 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch version, the new iPad Air is available in four colors: blue, purple, starlight, and space gray.

Additional storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants. These models are set to ship next week and are currently available for purchase.
