We have already seen the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil tested against the Microsoft competition, but iMore managing editor and “doodler” Serenity Caldwell has just put them to more thorough testing.
Caldwell recently tweeted a link to the video of her putting these just-released Apple products and Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pen through their paces. Writing and sketching on both slabs, she found the respective stylus-like implements to be roughly equally responsive, but that the Apple offerings came up trumps in a few key areas…
Using the default notes app on each slate, she found the Surface Pen to slightly fall behind for accurate writing of “very, very small fonts”. She also noted the feeling of more lag, attributing this to “this little pointer that comes on the screen as you get close”, and that she more often struggled to control the pressure. This remained the case even after having calibrated to boost performance.
This test adds to the mounting evidence of the great appeal the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil could have for professionals – we report other evidence in the lead article of the current issue of AppleMagazine.
