“iPad Pro” to Use GFF Touch Panel for Better Input Accuracy

We have already reported how the upcoming 12.9-inch “iPad Pro” looks set to be compatible with an optional Bluetooth stylus for touch input. It now appears that, as part of this compatibility, the larger slate will likely have a “glass-film-film” touch panel to ease routine use of this stylus.

This news comes from AppleInsider, which cites J.P. Morgan analysts who have apparently come to their conclusions following supply chain visits. A new GFF touch panel should make the iPad Pro’s touch features even more intuitive, especially considering an earlier report that they should include incorporation of pressure-sensitive Force Touch.

This use of a GFF touch panel would also be a first in the iPad product line, as the current iPad Air and Mini models instead use less advanced glass-film panels. However, there have been no widespread reports of Force Touch for this fall’s rumored new iPad Mini 4 or – should it indeed be unveiled – iPad Air 3, which suggests that GFF touch panels will also not appear in these models.
