JerryRigEverything and AppleTrack conducted bend tests on the new iPad Pro, concluding that it withstands extreme force well, showing strong resistance to bending under normal use.
AppleTrack’s comparison between the M2 and M4 iPad Pro models showed a significant improvement.
While the M2 iPad Pro exhibited a noticeable bend near the camera corner, the M4 iPad Pro emerged almost unscathed. JerryRigEverything lauded the device’s “black magic levels of structural integrity”, especially when bent horizontally.
The iPad Pro did show more vulnerability to vertical bends, likely due to the stress opposing its new internal reinforcement structure and the weakness around the charge port openings.
Despite this, the tablets generally reverted to their original shape unless subjected to extreme force.
Notably, even after enduring severe stress, the iPads remained functional, with cameras and touchscreen responsiveness intact, although the glass surface was shattered and curved.
These initial tests suggest that the new iPad Pro will avoid the issues seen with the 2018 #BendGate controversy, where the devices bent easily under normal use.
However, users should still handle their iPads with care, especially when placing them in bags with heavy items.
