The base model of Apple’s new iphone 12 will come with 128GB of storage.
According to reliable Apple insider Jon Prosser and his YouTube channel Front Page Tech, the Cupertino company is planning to bolster the iPhone’s storage capacity and offer 128GB as standard, perhaps to encourage consumers to play Apple Arcade games and use AR.
If Apple does up the capacity to 128GB, it would double the base storage capacity, which is currently 64GB.
Apple’s iPhones originally came with 16GB of storage, but that was increased to 32GB with the iPhone 7 and then 64GB from the iPhone 8, and now additional storage configurations – such as 256GB and 512GB – will be available at an additional fee.
The new 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch iPhone 12 models will be available to purchase with the 128GB storage capacity as standard, and an optional 256GB upgrade will be available.
The premium 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch models, on the other hand, will offer up to 512GB of capacity.
All four new iPhone models are expected to ship with 5G support, a faster Apple-powered chip, a new design inspired by the iPhone 4, and OLED displays for stunning picture quality.
Apple is widely expected to announce its new iPhones in a special event this September, but some have predicted that models may be delayed due to production issues brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, which is continuing to affect global markets and supply chains.
