The next-generation iPhone 15 series is expected to come with significant RAM improvements, according to a new report by TrendForce, a Taiwanese research firm. The report reveals that Apple will “bump up the capacity and specifications” of RAM for iPhone 15 models, although specific details about the upgrade have not been disclosed.
However, TrendForce has previously suggested that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will likely come equipped with 8GB of RAM, compared to the 6GB of RAM in iPhone 14 Pro models. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to retain their 6GB of RAM. It is possible, however, that the standard iPhone models could receive an upgrade to faster LPDDR5 RAM, as was the case with the iPhone 14 Pro.
An increase in RAM can significantly benefit multitasking on the iPhone, enabling users to run more apps simultaneously in the background. Combined with the rumored A17 Bionic chip for iPhone 15 Pro models, the RAM improvements are expected to boost overall performance, providing a more seamless user experience.
If the iPhone 15 Pro does indeed come with 8GB of RAM, it would mark the first time since the iPhone 12 Pro’s release in 2020 that Apple has increased the RAM capacity on its flagship devices.
Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 15 series at its annual September press event, which would follow the company’s usual release schedule. Fans are eagerly anticipating the event to see what new features the iPhone 15 series will bring.
