iPhone 7 Outperforms 12.9-Inch iPad Pro, New Figures Hint

How speedy will the iPhone 7 be? A set of Geekbench scores on the PrimateLabs website suggest that it could be even faster than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, despite being significantly smaller.

These new scores include, for the “iPhone9,3”, a single-core score of 3,379 and multi-core score of 5,495. In comparison, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro delivers respective Geekbench scores of 3,224 and 5,466, while last year’s iPhone 6S Plus returns significantly lower scores of 2,490 and 4,341.

Should these new figures be genuine, we can confidently expect the “iPhone9,3” to be part of the iPhone series expected to be formally unveiled tomorrow, as the respective hardware strings of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are “iPhone8,1” and “iPhone8,2”.

However, the report also indicates that the tested handset in this instance was running iOS 10.1. This iOS version has not yet been seeded to developers, leading MacRumors to speculate that the testing was conducted internally by someone seemingly aware that the results would be made public.

While it remains possible that these results are actually fake, their appearance on the PrimateLabs website so near the expected official reveal of the iPhone 7 could strengthen their legitimacy.
