iPhone 7 Plus comes out top on smartphone consumer satisfaction survey

It may have been over a year since its official release but that hasn’t stopped the iPhone 7 Plus from topping the ACSI Telecommunications Report 2018, released yesterday by the American Customer Satisfaction Index.

The device took the top spot with a rating of 85 out of 100. Samsung’s Galaxy S8+ and S8 placed second and third with ratings of 84 and 83, followed by the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus which had the same score of 83.

Surprisingly, the iPhone X took 17th place with a score of 80, making it rank ninth among all iPhone models and five points behind the older iPhone 7. ACSI said in its report – “the features of the X model are not enough to offset the cost.”

The 2017 edition of the survey saw the iPhone SE take the lead with a score of 87 whereas the iPhone 7 Plus came third with 86.

It’s thought that the methodology used by ACSI tends to favor older models. The survey asks 45, 292 customers between April 2017 and March 2018, placing half of the evaluation period prior to the release of the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus. This obviously gives customers a smaller sample size to choose from.
