iPhone 7 Plus Reportedly Selling Twice as Well as iPhone 7

Despite the continuing lack of officially released figures from Apple, there remains evidence that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are selling very well. Now, an analyst’s checks suggest that the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus is attracting double the sales of the 4.7-inch iPhone 7.

Those checks were, reports Benzinga, carried out by Global Equities Research’s Trip Chowdhry through 11 Apple retail stores in California, Illinois, New York and Washington, plus 600 new users of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Chowdhry’s checks also found 128GB to be the most popular storage option for the iPhone 7, while the best-selling color option was Black. This is the name given to the matte black, rather than the shinier Jet Black, finish similar to the Space Gray shade of 2013’s iPhone 5S.

Sales trends suggest that the iPhone 7 is driving up average selling prices for iPhones. “iPhone 7 Plus 128GB has an ASP of $869; regular iPhone 7 128GB has an ASP of $749 vs. iPhone 6 16GB had an ASP of $649, and 64GB iPhone 6 Plus has an ASP of $849,” Chowdhry remarked.

The iPhone 7 Plus’s dual-lens camera, a feature left out of the smaller iPhone 7, has likely played a big part in its greater popularity. Indeed, the unique Portrait feature brought with iOS 10.1 only yesterday has extended that dual-lens camera’s appeal even further.
