iPhone 7 Proves Water Resistant at Sydney’s Bondi Beach

The iPhone 7 features IP67 water resistance, meaning that it should be capable of withstanding up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes. In a new video posted to YouTube today by So Bad So Good, presenter Samantha Clarke tested that water resistance at Bondi Beach in Sydney.

For this test, a swimsuit-clad Samantha enthusiastically took to the sea with a gold iPhone 7, a surfboard and, on her head, a GoPro camera capturing footage for you to enjoy below. She then submerged the iPhone 7 in a meter of the ocean’s salt water for twenty seconds.

Watched the video? Good – we didn’t want to spoil the surprise. Basically, that iPhone 7 emerged from the sea just as functional as when it went in – to Samantha’s obvious joy. Nonetheless, we wouldn’t advise that you actually go swimming with an iPhone 7 – especially as liquid damage is not covered by its warranty. Just treat that water resistance as a safety net against the occasional accidental splash…
