iPhone and iPad users can finally get Google One VPN

Google on mobile

Google One VPN is available at last for iPhone and iPad users, a year and a half after the search giant promised to bring it to iOS devices. While a Google-run VPN has been available on the platform for a few months via the Google Fi cell service, the new update means that if you pay for at least 2TB of Google One storage, you should now get access to a VPN on your phone.

After establishing the service in the US, Canada, Australia, Germany and the UK, Google plans to expand coverage to 10 more countries. The new countries will include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Google has said that the VPN feature can be shared with family members (up to five people), allowing everyone to benefit from VPN protection on both Android and iOS devices. Users of the service can use an encrypted connection to stream, download and browse content, receiving protection on public WiFi networks and cellular connections.

Google has confirmed, however, that users won’t be able to take advantage of changing their IP location to view content that isn’t normally available in their region.

The VPN is available for $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, for subscribers to a Google One Premium 2TB plan.
