Demand for the iPhone SE appears robust; Longbow’s analyst Shawn M. Harrison has suggested that Apple’s production orders for the 4-inch handset could reach as high as 9 million in the current quarter.
This indication of the iPhone SE’s continued popularity has emerged following checks with contacts and Longbow’s connector checks. Whereas the order volumes had previously been expected to be 5 million, over 7 million units are now projected – with some contacts anticipating 9 million, reports Benzinga.
Last month, Credit Suisse analyst Kulbinder Garcha speculated that Apple had sold 10 million iPhone SE units during the year’s second quarter. This would have accounted for about a quarter of all iPhones that Apple sold, despite the long-constrained SE supply, during that period.
The iPhone SE has much appeal for Apple fans with tight budgets or preferences for the compact form factor; it includes the same A9 processor, 12-megapixel back camera, and Apple Pay and Live Photos functionality as the iPhone 6S series, but comes at a much cheaper $399 starting price.
