Is an iPhone X Plus set to be released next year?

We may still be a month away from the official release of the iPhone X but rumors have emerged suggesting that Apple has a 6-inch device in the works, too.  Renders published by iDropNews show a 6.4-inch iPhone X Plus alongside the upcoming  5.8-inch iPhone X, both featuring the same aesthetic design.

Last month, a report explained that Apple were planning to release two new iPhone sizes in 2018, one at 5.28-inches and another that was larger than 6-inches. However, due to the increasing demand for larger screened devices, they decided to ditch their plans for the smaller model.

It’s still unclear what tech will feature in the new 2018 iPhones but a report from May (albeit a sketchy one) suggested the possibility of new OLED form factors:

The report said the iPhone 9 is expected to come in two OLED models — 5.28- and 6.46-inch display sizes. Samsung’s OLED shipment is also likely to be more than double at 180 million units.

“Other details such as screen design and functions could be adjusted considering the phone is still under development.”

Nonetheless, we’re still more than a year away from any sort of iPhone X Plus announcement so, at present, we must take all rumors with a grain of salt. Due to the impending release of this year’s iPhone X, we’ve already witnessed slow consumer demand for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Could the same happen next year if Apple decide to release a number of devices at once?
