I was happy to wake up this morning and read the news that iTunes Match is down. That's not great news at the outset, of course. However, I spent the day yesterday trying to figure out why a photo slideshow app wouldn't work and why it wouldn't add music, and why the Music app as a whole wouldn't work before and after I rebuilt my entire iTunes library.
The folks at AppleInsider are apparently also having issues with iTunes, or iTunes Match to be exact. It relieves me to know it's not just me. There is nothing wrong with that app I was using (review to come at a later time), and there is nothing wrong with my iTunes library. It's just iTunes Match that is messing up.
Or maybe it's all of Apple's features as a whole. There have also been reports of Facetime and iMessage not working lately, and Apple is acknowledging that some users are experiencing issues. My son's friend bought a new iPhone 5 yesterday and couldn't figure out why iMessage wasn't working right for him. It turns out it wasn't him or the phone. It was the service being down.
If iTunes isn't working correctly for you today or the next few days, don't despair. While it's tempting to throw your iPhone or iPad out the window, that's obviously never a good idea. Just remember that if all these Apple services are going down that hopefully it means Apple is tinkering and getting ready to release something new and improved in the near future.
