Apple has announced a few changes in its executive ranks, most notably that Jeff Williams, previously Senior Vice President of Operations, will become Chief Operating Officer.
Meanwhile, Phil Schiller, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, will add leadership of the App Store to his responsibilities, and Johny Srouji, previously Vice President of Hardware Technologies, is being promoted to the role of Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies.
Also, early next year, Tor Myhren will join Apple as the company’s Vice President of Marketing Communications. Myhren has lately been leading advertising agency Grey New York to success, including the accolades of Adweek’s Global Agency of the Year for both 2013 and 2015.
In a statement, Apple CEO Tim Cook has spoke positively of Apple’s top-tier staff, referring to the “incredible depth and breadth of talent across Apple’s executive team” and describing Williams as “hands-down the best operations executive I’ve ever worked with”.
Williams’ new role as Chief Operating Officer is the same held by Tim Cook until August 2011, when he succeeded Steve Jobs as Apple’s CEO. The immediate job reshuffles are already reflected on the Leadership page of Apple’s website.
