NEW YORK — A New York judge has urged Apple to reboot its relationship with a monitor appointed to analyze its antitrust prevention practices, saying disqualifying him is no solution.
U.S. District Judge Denise Cote issued a written opinion Thursday, three days after she rejected Apple Inc.’s request that she disqualify the monitor she appointed in the fall. The appointment followed her conclusion after a summertime trial that Apple disobeyed antitrust laws by conspiring with publishers to raise electronic book prices in 2010.
Cote called the deterioration of the relationship between the Cupertino, California-based Apple and the monitor “unfortunate and disappointing.” She added that she hoped the relationship could be “reset and placed on a productive course.”
