Latest Galaxy Note 8 leak reveals a shape change in the new device

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 won’t only stand up against what we can only assume will be the iPhone’s biggest reinvention in a number of years but it will restore faith in the Note brand after it was badly damaged last year. You could say then, that it’s going to be a big deal.

A new leak from the ever-reliable Vietnamese Tung Ha suggests that Samsung are most certainly on the right track. On his Facebook page, Ha has posted official press renders of the Note 8 that show familiar features including:

  • A large Infinity Display (6.3 inches wide)
  • A shape change to the S8’s 19.5:9 aspect ratio
  • Dual Cameras
  • A rear fingerprint sensor moved further away from the camera lense
  • A headphone jack

Additionally, Chinese case maker SanFeng has had cases for the Note 8 leaked on the website Weibo. The case designs tie in nicely with Ha’s leaked renders, ticking most of the bullet points listed above including the ratio shape change but without the inclusion of the headphone jack.

The Note 8 is expected to be released in August followed by the iPhone 8 in September and given their close launch schedules its likely that things will heat up in the battle of the smartphones. Even more so if Google announce a close release of the eagerly awaited Pixel 2.
