An official announcement last month gave us some details about the forthcoming revived Nokia range that is bound for the U.S. Following on from this, the Finnish start-up behind said revival has updated the listing.
It appears that two base model variants (TA-1004 and TA-1012) have been tweaked to include software support from WCDMA Band IV, suggesting compatibility with both Sprint and Verizon networks.
Other major changes include increased memory and storage options with both 6 GB RAM and 12 GB added to the list. At present, the models available in Europe include 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage with microSD card support. There is also now support for ANT+ which is used by many wearable fitness trackers.
HMD Global made the announcement that Nokia would return to the smartphone race less than a year ago and since then the company has announced a number of handsets, the latest of which can comfortably sit alongside other high-end devices.
The Nokia 8 is a worthy Android handset but the fact that it has a higher price compared to phones of equal specification mean that its relying a lot on the Nokia name. Only time can tell how well it will sell to a U.S. market.
