The news site MacRumors has posted several screenshots of the upcoming iTunes 12.4, in which a new sidebar and better navigation will form key parts of a subtly simpler redesign.
The screenshots, provided by an unidentified source, show that the existing navigation icons for Music, Movies, TV Shows and other content will be replaced with a single dropdown menu. Apparently, this menu will be customisable, allowing unused parts of iTunes to be tucked away.
Also added, on the left side, will be a new, persistent sidebar – where different sections of an iTunes Library, like songs and albums, can be more easily accessed. Menus will also be simplified to enable easier use, while the redesigned View menu will allow customisation of available Library content.
There will also be some minor changes for the mini player’s design; for example, the Up Next song feature will be shifted to a more visible place on the player’s right side.
Though MacRumors seems uncertain about when exactly iTunes 12.4 will be released, the source has allegedly claimed that the release date should be within the next few weeks. This suggests that iTunes 12.4 will likely arrive in late May or early June.
