There was no shortage of hype and publicity surrounding last week’s release of Beyoncé’s “visual album” Lemonade. Now, it looks like sales of actual lemonade – yes, the citrusy beverage – have recently sharply increased, possibly as a direct result of the former Destiny’s Child singer’s album.
Natalie Sexton, the CEO of Florida-based juice company Natalie’s Juices, has told The Huffington Post that her company’s sales of natural lemonade, lemonade tea and strawberry lemonade have doubled since the album’s launch. “People are drinking lemonade and posting pictures with #Beyoncé,” Sexton said, adding: “You can’t drink lemonade these days without thinking of her.”
Matt McLean of Uncle Matt’s juice has revealed that his own sales are “up about 20%”, though he admitted: “I don’t know if that’s due to Beyoncé or the heat. Maybe it’s Beyoncé. We’d send her some free lemonade – it’s organic!” Having reviewed the album in today’s new issue of AppleMagazine, we have to admit that listening to it while sipping actual lemonade could be great for both your ears and supply of vitamin C.
