LG TVs Now Support Dolby Atmos on Apple Music LG has introduced Dolby Atmos support to its Apple Music app on smart TVs, marking a first in the industry.

Apple TV 4K vs. Built-In Google TV

The recent update allows LG TV owners to enjoy an elevated audio experience directly through their television sets. This enhancement applies to the LG GX OLED TV from the 2020 lineup and is expected to extend to all LG TVs compatible with Dolby Atmos from 2020 onward.

The integration of Dolby Atmos with the Apple Music app enhances the audio dimensionality, allowing sounds to be perceived from all directions, thus mimicking a more immersive listening environment that was previously limited to setups involving external hardware.

Although the TV’s built-in speakers are now capable of utilizing Dolby Atmos, LG recommends using a compatible surround sound system to fully leverage the potential of this advanced audio technology.

Prior to this update, Apple Music’s Dolby Atmos support required external Apple devices such as the Apple TV 4K, used in conjunction with Apple HomePods or Sonos speakers through the Sonos app.

This enhancement simplifies the setup by removing the need for additional hardware, offering a straightforward, all-inclusive audio experience.

The move by LG to integrate Dolby Atmos directly into its TVs could prompt other manufacturers to upgrade their own Apple Music applications to include support for the technology, potentially setting a new standard for built-in audio performance in smart TVs.
