Limited Edition Umbrella Corps PS4 Consoles to Hit Japan

Set for launch are limited edition PlayStation 4 consoles with designs inspired by the upcoming Resident Evil title, Umbrella Corps… but only in Japan. The consoles will be available in Jet Black and Glacier White options, and mark twenty years since the birth of the horror franchise.

Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Japanese arm has announced that this console will be available, in either color, with a special bundle getting its release on June 23. Each bundle will come with not just the console unit, but also Umbrella Corps, a wireless DualShock 4 controller and two Resident Evil-themed PS4 HDD Bay Covers: an Umbrella Corps edition and a 20th Anniversary variant.

Prices will start at 38,980 yen plus tax for the 500GB model, rising to 43,980 yen plus tax for the 1TB model – though, peculiarly, the latter is available only in Jet Black. The game Umbrella Corps – or, as it is referred to in the Land of the Rising Sun, Biohazard: Umbrella Corps – will also be released separately in Japan on June 23, and preorders have opened in the country.

Meanwhile, it’s unclear whether these limited edition consoles will also be brought to the United States. Either way, Umbrella Corps will be released on these shores on June 21.
