Apple has finally released the new Mac Pro and corresponding Pro Display XDR.
Yesterday, a Save the Date tagline appeared on the Apple retail website, and the company began to email customers who had signed up for reminders ahead of the Mac Pro’s release.
The company confirmed last month that the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR would be released in December, but did not give any specific date or concrete information on a launch.
Apple’s new email confirmed yesterday that orders will begin on December 10 and that shipments would follow in the coming days – it’s expected many will be shipped for tomorrow.
Apple introduced the stunning new modular Mac Pro back in June at its Worldwide Developers Conference, and it received rave reviews from critics who managed a hands-on look at the device.
Aimed at Apple’s professional user base, the new Mac Pro is the biggest upgrade to the Mac Pro since its introduction, with a beautiful new lattice design.
Unlike the previous model, the new Mac Pro is designed with upgradeability and expansion in mind, offering professional users more choice and flexibility when purchasing a machine.
The new Mac Pro also revives the lattice pattern, which is designed to maximizes airflow, and the traditional PC tower design, which works better than the “spaceship” Mac Pro.
Users can add up to 28 cores to their Mac Pro and up to an incredible 1.5 terabytes of memory.
If they’d rather start out on the basic model, which costs $5,999, they’ll be able to upgrade their machine when they see fit; the base comes with an 8-core Xeon W chip.
Alongside the new Mac Pro, users can now order the breathtaking Pro Display XDR, which boasts a 6K display and a resolution of 6016 x 3384 with more than 20 million pixels.
But it doesn’t come cheap – the display will set you back $4,999, with an add-on stand available for an additional $999.
