Malicious Tweet Causes An Epileptic Seizure

Kurt Eichenwald, a writer for both Newsweek and Vanity Fair, claims that he had suffered from an epileptic seizure after somebody sent a tweet to him containing flashing images.

The tweet was deliberately trying to provoke a seizure in a malicious attack. The flashing image contained the words “you deserve a seizure for your posts”. Shortly after the tweet was sent, Eichenwald’s wife used his account to send out a tweet that stated he had suffered from a seizure.

This is apparently not the first time such an attack has occurred against Eichenwald. He stated in a later tweet that “Last night, for the second time, a deplorable aware I have epilepsy tweeted a strobe at me…it worked”.

“This is not going to happen again. My wife is terrified. I am…disgusted. All I will be tweeting for the next few days are copies of documents from the litigation, police reports etc.”

It has yet to be acknowledged by Twitter officially, so it is unclear whether they will be taking measures to prevent these kinds of attacks on epilepsy sufferers. Eichenwald will be taking legal action against the user who sent the tweet.
