NBC is smartly pre-publishing a snippet of an interview Matt Lauer did with Mark Zuckerberg that will air tomorrow on both Today and Rock Center with Brian Williams. The Facebook mastermind was always an interesting character, but after his story became the feature film The Social Network, he became even more sought after.
Of the information that was released ahead of the airings of the two NBC Shows is Zuckerberg's admiration of the iPhone 5. Tim Cook sent him a freebie of the new phone. With iOS 6 now integrating Facebook into its native apps, it only makes sense to award him a phone.
He tells Lauer that the iPhone 5 is a “wonderful device.” He also called it a “great platform.” His interest in it became more obvious after he said,
“There are more people who use Facebook on Android — because Android is just — more people use it, at this point. And the thing that I think a lot of people don't think about is that there are actually more people in the world using Facebook on mobile Web, right, so not using the apps on iOS or Android, but actually just going to a browser on a phone. There are more people doing that than the iPhone and all of Android phones combined, right? So it's actually a pretty diverse ecosystem.”
Zuckerberg was also asked about his wardrobe and admitted he wears the same thing every day. He believes he probably owns about twenty gray t-shirts, all in the same shade of gray. He doesn't keep much else in his closet, letting his wife occupy most of that. He only gets one drawer, and that's where he parks all twenty gray t-shirts.
It's interesting to note the similarity to Steve Jobs, also the owner of a singular-looking wardrobe. He was always in the same jeans, and either a black turtleneck or black t-shirt. They are/were both very unassuming men, and you'd never look at either of them and realize the genius they have/had going on in their heads.
