Media invites are finally sent out for Apple’s September 12 event

Yesterday, Apple sent out media invites for their annual September event which, this year, will be held on the 12th at the Steve Jobs Theater in the company’s new Cupertino Campus in California. The media invites give a nod to the theme which is “Let’s meet at our place.”

The upcoming event will be the most significant one for Apple in years thanks to the new radically designed OLED iPhone that’s said to feature an edge-to-edge display, a vertical rear camera, facial recognition capabilities and wireless charging.

The new iPhones aren’t the only upgrades said to be released at the event, though. We’re expecting to hear more about the iMac Pro and the HomePod as well as other hardware devices like the 4K Apple TV.  Many iPads and Macs were refreshed in June meaning its unlikely that we’ll see any further upgrades in that area but we are expecting new Apple Watch bands and iPhone cases.

Next-generation operating systems like iOS 11, macOS High Sierra, tvOS 11 and watchOS 4 have all been tested but after the event we might see some upgrades for the public. Both the iOS and watchOS updates are usually revealed ahead of new iPhones while macOS updates come a little later. What we do know for sure is that the Amazon Prime Video app is definitely in the works but won’t be ready in time for the event.

Just as with past events, the 2017 iPhone unveiling will start at 10am Pacific Time and Apple will stream the event live on its website and on the Apple TV.
