Microsoft Bringing “Next Billion Dollar Business”, PowerApps

PowerApps. It’s an initiative being launched by Microsoft today, and previously described by the company as the “next billion dollar business for cloud and enterprise”. But what actually is it? The Redmond firm has shed light on many more details as it formally introduced PowerApps today.

In a new press release, Microsoft has drawn attention to the failure of business apps to keep pace with consumer apps in facilitating equally accessible and smooth experiences across a range of devices, including phones, tablets and laptops. PowerApps is intended to address this dilemma by enabling businesses to connect, make and share corporate apps “on any device in minutes”.

Employees can use a “Microsoft Office-like experience” to speedily make apps capable of working on any device, while a number of tools are included to enable developers and IT professionals to take their expertise even further. Businesses can now learn more about PowerApps and apply for access to this intriguing software framework through the just-launched PowerApps website.
