Microsoft has reportedly decided on the final build for Windows 10, with two weeks remaining until the much-anticipated operating system’s release on 29 July. This story comes from The Verge, which says that PC manufacturers can now load the OS onto its new machines as the launch approaches.
Apparently, sources who are aware of Microsoft’s intentions have revealed that the company has chosen ‘build 10240’ as the version of Windows 10 that will become available to the public later this month. Microsoft was set to internally sign off on this version today, and may make an official announcement about this RTM – or release to manufacturing – build before the Windows 10 launch.
The first people to get the opportunity to use build 10240 will be Microsoft’s own Windows 10 testers, followed by members of the public who upgrade their existing computers to the OS at launch. People who want Windows 10 preinstalled on new PCs will have to wait weeks later, as it won’t be until then that such computers become available.
